Taxes and the Town Budget
There is no excuse not to vote
Like our local businesses the town must live within its means. In recent years we have drawn on our savings accounts to balance the budget rather than reducing spending. We need our reserves for emergency use and should reduce our spending in response to the down turn building.
The town should:Eliminate one building inspector position immediately. Permits are down, inspections are down so we should reduce personnel to meet the decline.
Maintain our present cost of living and salary policies for our employees. Our employees are our greatest asset and we must treat them fairly.
Reduce the Town's reliance on fund balance (savings) by eliminating unnecessary positions and looking for ways to reduce spending
Commit to not raising taxes beyond the revenue neutral point after the upcoming revaluation.
